Stories of Youth in STEM
Interactive Storytelling of Real Life Experience ofCollege Students from Underrepresented Communities
This National Science Foundation (NSF) funded project showcases the five stories from a growing digital collection featuring college students in Texas studying computer science at Hispanic-Serving Institutions and Historically Black Colleges and Universities. Designed as an immersive storytelling experience, the project translates students’ lived journeys—from early schooling to pivotal college moments—into interactive narratives. Each story unfolds through thoughtfully crafted user interactions, integrating audio, motion, visual transitions, and responsive elements to guide users through moments of challenge, growth, and transformation. The design prioritizes narrative flow, emotional engagement, and accessibility, inviting users to actively participate in the storytelling rather than passively consume it.
Stories of Youth in STEM is published on web.
